Bumblebutton, you’re right–it was great to have a challenge that can be broken down into its various components.

Sheltie Girl, I’ve worn Nolan in a ringsling on occasion while in the kitchen; it works pretty well when I’m doing prep. It really limits my range of motion, though, particularly when trying to get at things on the bottom shelf, and I worry too much to use the stove with him right there.

Marion, I love pina colada too, but just the virgin sort. For those who like it, though, I bet a rum simple syrup would be perfect for this cake.

FoodieTots, absolutely–Nolan is getting close to rolling over already, and we can already tell that once he starts moving, he’s never going to stop.

You did a wonderful job on your cake. I’m sorry your little one was so unhappy with all the time you were spending in the kitchen. I’ve been there too…I used to cook wearing my children when they were little. I love the dried pineapple flowers for decoration.

This was definitely a tough cake to make with a child around, but you did a good job. ANd, I love the idea of pineapple mousse.
