Ruth, thanks for the encouragement! You know, I could have written this post differently and submitted the saffron-leek pasta for Presto Pasta Nights... didn't even occur to me until now.

Hi Dad, thanks for the ideas. And that's a printmaking table, not a kitchen table, you know that. ;)

Maybe you could put a small colorful salad or some leafy greens on the plate next to the dish to add color like they do in fancy restaurants. That would work really well with the cookies. Just trying to be helpful.

Seems like I saw a kitchen table once in the back room, buried. Perhaps you could depile that table. Look! A new word- never before seen the English language.

Baking Soda, I'm glad to hear that my yeasted waffle results weren't unique. After freezing, the undercooked ones did defrost nicely in our toaster, so at least it wasn't a total loss. I'm still searching for my perfect waffle recipe, though... haven't quite hit on it yet.

Courtney, those are great suggestions. We don't have a kitchen table, so I have never put much emphasis on presentation, plating or otherwise. One of these days I'm going to have to start collecting interesting dishes and colorful napkins and the like to spice up my photos. At nearly 8 months pregnant, I'm lucky if I can stay upright in the kitchen long enough to make the food, slap it on a plate and make sure my pics are in focus. :)

Colorful varieties of food are often the most nutritious, so what really kills me is knowing that my gravitation toward all these brown and white comfort foods isn't doing me any favors healthwise, besides making for drab eye candy on the blog.

It all lokks great. Maybe you need to play with a photo program and set the food around colored accesories and plates. Just the to jazz it up. But the most important thing is that food tastes great. I havent been blogging for a long time but, I"m learning , observing, playing, and see a improvement .

The waffles! No kidding..I'm afraid this recipe is beyond rescue... I've tried twice but had the same results; nicely browned but uncooked, or cooked till done but heavily browned close to burned and rock-hard. I've given up.
